Sustainable Country Estate in Costa Rica (Nicoya Peninsula)
Executive Summary
The focus of this multifunctional country estate in Costa Rica will be on:
- Hospitality & Care: ocean view resort & lodging on ‘Esperanza’,
- Forestry: existing plantations of teak, ‘poyote’ & eucalyptus; also bamboo,
- Aquaculture: fishery, Tilapia farm; regaining drinking water from springs.
The existing owners of Hacienda la Esperanza offer through Estatement:
- all existing properties including seven farms (‘Finca’s’) for the special price of € 7.000.000,
- the opportunity to obtain and realise the resort ‘La Mirada Aguileña’ (‘Escritura’-property),

The average Return on Investment is based on the expected increase in value of the properties in the first place and the net profits from successful exploitation in the second place.
Description Existing Country Estate ‘Hacienda la Esperanza’ (= hope)
In 2004 ‘Founding Eagle’ Forest Returns bought an area of 1.000 acres (‘Esperanza vieja’). With help of other investors, a separate Dutch entity, named Vereenigde Costaricaanse Compagnie bv (VCC), was founded in 2007. After that six different but adjacent areas from four different Costa Rican families have been obtained until 2010. From the beginning a Seven Years Master-plan 2007 -2014 was developed. Since then this plan has been actualised and revised. Our present 2.281 acres ‘con Escritura’ and 472 acres ‘sin Escritura’ (80% has already been (pre)paid by VCC) country estate ‘Esperanza Nueva’ is more than just a hotel or luxurious eco lodge resort.
The always green southern part of Peninsula de Nicoya is one of Costa Rica`s most cherished gems and became worldwide known as Blue Zone Number One (based upon a seven years study by Dan Buettner of National Geographic). From the hilly interior the mountains slope down to the ‘Oceano Pacífico’, creating some of the most beautiful and peaceful Costa Rican beaches.
All assets of ‘Esperanza’ are property of VCC.
